Problem 58 is a katana, 69.4 cm or 2 shaku 2 sun 9 bu with a curve of 1.35 cm or 4 bu 5 rin. It is shinogi-zukuri with iori-mune, the blade is wide at the base, thickness is ordinary, the curve is shallow and there is a chu-kissaki. The forging is itame with masame mixed in, ji-nie is applied. The temper is done in ko-nie deki, a ko-notare gunome hamon with sunagashi and hakikake applied. The boshi is as seen in the illustration. The nakago is unaltered with katte-sagari yasurime, the tip is a full (haru) kurijiri, there is a five-character signature on the omote towards the shinogi-ji.
